Filippo Minelli
Minelli deals with various forms of communication in every imaginable landscape. Within the international movement of graffiti art he is considered one of the pioneers of Italy. Throughout Europe, but also in places like Kathmandu, Vietnam, Mali, Mongolia and Israel the artist leaves his provocative traces.
His interventions always relate to the chosen location responding to current political and cultural contexts in a way that overthrows the aesthetics of conventional graffiti. Minelli's work raise questions about the boundaries between technology, virtual worlds versus the harsh reality of war zones and dumping sites of Western abundance. Important works are his series Contradictions; where for insance he spray painted the word democracy on a ship lying in the cemetery for Western marine ships at the coast of Mali. In 2007 he painted teh PC code CtrlAltDel in bright blue letters on the freshly risen wall between Israel and Palestine.

After his intervention 'Death' (2009, Dordrecht) on the facade of the Noordkaap, Minelli joins us again and this time at the ArtPie in Istanbul. Furthermore his cries will regularly appear in our next program.
