Erik Sep
Eric Sep's space-filling scale models breathe prefabricated, 1950s architectural styles mixed with favela-like building solutions. Sep composes multi-dimensional, parallel worlds animated by ingenious drainage systems, lighting networks, honeycomb and mirror tiles.
In Sep's city it's an ongoing process of constructing, tearing down, and completely reinventing things. He's an artist who also sees himself as an architect and developer building a city. And just like any other city, Sep's is never finished either. The urban installations pop up in various locations, and always make utmost use of the opportunities these spaces offer.
Erik Sep graduated in 2002 from the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam, Fine Art Department. His work has been shown in 't Torentje, Almelo (solo), 'Ecoscape,' TENT, Rotterdam, and 'Slow City,' Galerie Gist, Amsterdam, among other. In 2009 he won the Prix d'Arte at the Slick Art Fair in Paris.
